Sow the Seed, Trust the Lord

“The soil produces crops by itself; first the blade, then the head, then the mature grain in the head.” Mark 4:28

There’s a deep peace that comes from knowing God is in control of everything—even our salvation—and that peace is a gift He gives to all who believe. In the Gospel of Mark 4:26-29 we find the parable of the Seed Growing.

Jesus tells us that the farmer throws out the seed and then goes on with life, sleeping, waking up, and doing his daily routine. He has no idea how the seed grows. But somehow, it does. Slowly and steadily, something begins to happen. First a little sprout, then a stalk, and eventually a full head of grain. It’s quiet, it’s gradual, and most of the time, it’s happening where no one can see. However, it’s real and in the right season, the harvest shows up.

That’s what Jesus is getting at in this parable. It’s a picture of how God works. He is the one who builds His kingdom, both in the world and in our hearts. Maybe you’ve been sharing the gospel with your kids, praying for someone you love, or showing up week after week to serve, and you’re wondering if any of it’s making a difference. Don’t lose heart. God sees it. You’re planting a seed, and He’s the one growing it. Even if you can’t see the results yet, trust that He’s working in ways you don’t yet understand. Your effort is never wasted. Your faithfulness matters.

Your shepherd,

Pastor Mark
