The Wrath of God

ree

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. Romans 1:18

You would be hard-pressed to walk into any church and not hear about the love of God. In our world, people often speak freely of God’s love but rarely of His wrath. Yet the Bible teaches that God’s wrath is a holy and just response to sin. It is not an uncontrolled rage, but the righteous judgment of a perfect God against all that is evil. To ignore this truth is to misunderstand His holiness.

Many of these same churches that talk about the love of God will tell anyone who will listen that you can remain in relationships that God forbids His followers to engage in. Churches often paint their steps in a rainbow of colors leading up to their church.  LGBTQ flags fly proudly outside and even on the stage, where they stand behind the pulpit and preach heresy.

It is not love to lie to people so that they will feel welcomed and comfortable in their sin. To love someone means speaking the truth to them in love. People need to be warned of God's wrath. In Romans 1, we see evidence of God's wrath upon our nation. Paul writes, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Rom 1:18).” What does that wrath look like,

Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.26 For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions; for their females exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the males abandoned the natural function of the female and burned in their desire toward one another, males with males committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error (Rom 1:24-27).”

In our country, it was the sexual revolution in the 60s and 70s, then the homosexual revolution in the 80s and 90s. Now we see the results of God's wrath mentioned in Romans 8:28 where Paul writes, “And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper (NASB).” Depraved minds are men thinking that they are women, depraved minds are people identifying as animals, depraved minds are men and women standing in churches and declaring you can be a practicing homosexual, or transsexual, and be a Christian.

Woe be to those who mock God. Woe be to those who would cause others to sin. Wow, be to those who do not fear the wrath of God. God poured out His wrath on His own Son. Jesus, God incarnate, never sinned, yet He suffered the wrath of the Father against the sin of all who would believe. If God did not hold back His wrath on His own Son, how much more will His wrath consume all who mock Him?

Your shepherd,

Pastor Mark
